Zynx Health Partners with the Care Collaborative to Offer More Than 1,000 Clinically Proven Order Sets to ZynxOrder Customers

Expedites the deployment of clinical decision support, key in meaningful use of electronic health records.

The Care Collaborative, an alliance between Ascension Health, Adventist Health System and Catholic Healthcare West for the development and use of jointly developed clinical content, announced a formal licensure agreement with Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions. Together they are offering a library of more than 1,000 order sets that have been developed over five years and adopted by their community of physicians, in a variety of digital formats and on multiple electronic health record (EHR) platforms, for use at the point of care delivery. Available as a subscription expansion to ZynxOrder, the Care Collaborative Order Set Library covers a broad range of procedural and subspecialty clinical venues to assist healthcare organizations in expediting implementation of evidence-based computerized provider order entry (CPOE).

Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Evergreen Hospital Medical Center are among the first clients to subscribe to this library outside the Care Collaborative system facilities to speed adoption of evidence-based CPOE and expedite the ability to demonstrate meaningful use of EHRs. “Our goal was to achieve consensus through clinical collaboration on evidence-based and experience-based best practices, tested at the point of care and specifically to streamline them to enhance the adoption of order automation,” said Loran Hauck, MD, chief medical officer, Adventist Health System.

Jeff Rose, MD, vice president of clinical excellence informatics of Ascension Health commented, “In addition to quality and safety, the materials are formatted in natural language for ease of integration into the clinical workflow of various EHRs, while at the same time allowing for maintenance and up-to-date usefulness of information in the Care Collaborative hospitals. We sought to provide a platform-independent foundation for CPOE and intranet environments, particularly for community practice caregivers, that could serve as an acceleration model for other health systems.”

Applying clinical decision support at the point of care lays the foundation for demonstrating meaningful use of EHRs required for obtaining federal stimulus funds established in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The order set library has been tested and refined through use at the bedside in the most demanding care settings, and can be used as is or be easily honed by an organization within the Zynx Health online content management system.

“The Care Collaborative Order Set Library provides our clients with additional order sets covering procedures, protocols and subspecialties in an immediately CPOE-compatible format,” said Greg Dorn, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Zynx Health. “With this library, the Care Collaborative has demonstrated ease of clinical adoption and improved patient outcomes.”
