TheraDoc Introduces Clinical Decision Support Alert Bundles
Alerts help hospitals improve patient safety & productivity.
Salt Lake City, UT, July 22, 2009 — TheraDoc®, a leader in clinical informatics, today unveiled six new clinical and adverse drug event alert packages designed to help hospitals improve patient care and safety. The alert bundles, addressing a range of clinical areas and drug monitoring parameters, work with the TheraDoc Expert System Platform®, which provides ongoing electronic surveillance of patient data from multiple hospital information sources and alerts caregivers to clinically significant changes in patients’ conditions. ??The new packages contain from 27 to 55 alerts each and include:
Patient Monitoring, which scrutinizes lab and admission data for out-of-range test results and shifts in a patient’s condition.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring & Drug Utilization Monitoring, which track pharmacy and lab data about medications, such as dosage and drug selection, in order to optimize the clinical efficacy and benefit for each patient, as well as costs for hospitals.
Adverse Drug Event Surveillance, which looks at patient, pharmacy, and lab data to help identify potential adverse drug events and intervene to prevent patient harm. It includes alerts to help automate many medication triggers from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Global Trigger tool to increase medication safety.
Toxicology, which monitors lab data for the presence or abnormal levels of potentially harmful substances.
Anticoagulation, which addresses a recent Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goal and tracks compliance and the monitoring of patients receiving anticoagulation drug therapy.
The TheraDoc Expert System Platform and these new alert bundles help clinicians meet the challenges of today’s complex clinical care environment in a targeted fashion and make enhanced patient safety achievable for any size hospital.
