Sage Products Honored by WOCN for Support of Research Mission

Sage Products Inc. was honored by the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society at the opening of the WOCN’s 44th annual conference June 10 in Charlotte, N.C., for its longtime support of the organization’s research mission. Sage Vice President of Marketing Terry Boersma accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Sage was recognized for sponsoring grants that are awarded to WOCN members who conduct research at various levels. Sage has funded 13 WOCN research grants since 2004.

The WOCN Society supports research through the Center for Clinical Investigation (CCI), which is funded by the WOCN Society Foundation. The CCI’s goal is to promote research to advance WOC nursing practice and to support the evidence base used by clinicians to improve their practice and patient outcomes, according to Donna Bliss, Director of the CCI.

“Sage has long been one of the WOCN Society’s very loyal and committed sponsors,” Bliss said. “Our relationship with Sage is a great example of an effective partnership between the society and its corporate colleagues. We work together to further the mission of both the companies and the society to empower our nurses through education and research.”

For Sage, supporting research is central to its mission of helping clinicians deliver extraordinary patient outcomes with evidence-based products that specifically target pressure ulcer risk factors and Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis (IAD).

“Sage Products applauds and supports the pioneering spirit of the WOCN Society to research better ways to prevent wounds and deliver top quality patient care. We’re proud to support WOC research and evidence-based practice through funding research grants,” Boersma said. “Sage’s commitment to Simple Interventions, Extraordinary Outcomes is on the back of our business cards. It shows everyone that we believe in doing everything we can to advance best practice in prevention of sacral and heel pressure ulcers as well as IAD, a pressure ulcer risk factor.”

Sage’s market-leading interventions include the Prevalon® Turn and Position System to help prevent sacral pressure ulcers; Prevalon® Pressure-Relieving Heel Protector to help prevent heel pressure ulcers; and Comfort Shield® Barrier Cream Cloths to protect patients from IAD.
