PIH Expands Surgery Solution, Improves Operational Efficiencies
Surgical Information Systems (SIS), a leader in perioperative information systems, has announced that Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH) has added the company’s anesthesia information management system (AIMS) to its Sunrise Surgery powered by SIS solution from Allscripts. By adding AIMS, PIH will move to a completely electronic perioperative record that streamlines workflow and information access throughout the hospital. A nonprofit healthcare institution, PIH serves residents in Los Angeles County, Orange County and the San Gabriel Valley.
Growing patient volumes and reduced reimbursements are putting increased pressures on hospitals – compelling them to look for new ways to optimize their operations. PIH looked to their perioperative department, the financial engine of the hospital, as an opportunity to drive efficiency by moving from paper-based anesthesia records to electronic documentation. This effort will aid in driving clinical productivity in their anesthesia space and reducing costs while maintaining quality care.

The SIS AIMS solution works seamlessly with the hospital’s Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager health information system and current Sunrise Surgery solution to facilitate the flow of patient information throughout the perioperative continuum.
