John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award Nominations Due Sept. 30

 

The John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Awards are given each year by the National Quality Forum (NQF) and The Joint Commission to recognize achievement in patient safety and quality improvement and to honor the memory of John Eisenberg, MD. Eisenberg was the director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality when he died at age 55 in 2002 from a brain tumor. Eisenberg was a member of the founding Board of Directors of the NQF and chairman of the department of medicine and physician in chief at Georgetown University prior to his appointment to AHRQ.

 

Nominations for the 2013 awards are due September 30. Awards will be given in three categories:

 

  • Individual Achievement
  • National – System Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality
  • Local – System Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality

 

The 2013 awards will be presented at the next annual NQF conference on February 13 & 14, 2014, in Washington, DC. All award recipients must be available to attend the NQF conference to receive the award.
