Ochsner Health System Goes Live with DocuSys’ Anesthesia and Drug Management Technology

Atlanta, GA, & New Orleans, LA, September 15, 2009 — DocuSys, Inc., a market-leading provider of innovative systems for anesthesia information management, anesthesia drug management, and presurgical care management, today announced Ochsner Health System of New Orleans went live on the DocuSys Anesthesia Information Management and Anesthesia Drug Management system in 41 anesthetizing locations at Ochsner Medical Center and the Ochsner-Merrill Hines Surgery Center. Ochsner is one of the largest non-university based physician training centers in the nation that has received the Consumer Choice for Healthcare in New Orleans for 13 consecutive years, and has been ranked a “Best” Hospital by U.S. News and World Report.

DocuSys is providing Ochsner with a state-of-the-art Anesthesia Information Management System equipped with advanced decision support for the documentation of national quality measures and extensive ad-hoc reporting capabilities. Key benefits of the DocuSys solution that Ochsner was focused on are: an anesthesia drug management system that supported barcode scanning of anesthesia drugs and advanced narcotic tracking, and a coding module to better capture professional fees and document comorbid conditions. Ochsner also purchased DocuSys’ Presurgical Care Management System, an advanced risk management and presurgical testing management solution, that is scheduled to be installed at Ochsner later this year.

“I am extremely pleased that the benefits of the DocuSys Anesthesia Information System have become available to Ochsner patients and their perioperative teams,” said Armin Schubert, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology for the Ochsner Health System.

“Ochsner is implementing the first technology that allows narcotics, dispensed from CareFusion’s Pyxis® Anesthesia System, to be electronically reconciled at the point of care with documentation of narcotic administration in the DocuSys Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS) ,” said James Douglas, M.D., Ochsner Anesthesiologist and Ochsner Clinical Project Manager for the DocuSys AIMS project.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with such a world-class healthcare facility and exceptional group of anesthesia providers. We support Ochsner’s commitment to improving patient safety and maintaining unparalleled patient care by incorporating innovative technology in their healthcare facility,” said DocuSys President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert Watson. “We are extremely appreciative to everyone involved in the implementation process and for making this such a successful installation.”
