Indiana University Health Center Sees Success with NoMoreClipboard.com Online Personal Health Record

Over 40% of the university’s freshman class adopt their own PHR.

Fort Wayne, IN, September 25, 2009 – The Indiana University Health Center (IUHC) announced that 40 percent of its incoming freshman class are up and running with an online personal health record (PHR) from NoMoreClipboard.com. Of the 40 percent who have adopted a PHR, approximately 50 percent are already using it to coordinate care with the IU Health Center.

The Bloomington, Indiana campus is one of the first universities in the U.S. to offer a full PHR to students.  The online personal health record solution was first made available to students in February. The IU Health Center decided to aggressively market the solution to incoming students and their parents to generate interest and promote adoption.

“Our students are extremely web-savvy and we wanted incoming students to realize the benefit of managing their health information securely online. We want the adoption of a PHR to be seen as a normal part of the college registration process,” said Pete Grogg, associate director at the IUHC. “With NoMoreClipboard, students can create a secure, password protected PHR that includes their medications, allergies, current and past conditions and other important medical information.”

In addition to reaching the incoming freshman students, the IU Health Center has started several initiatives to promote adoption among the full student population. Together with NoMoreClipboard, the health center will encourage students to sign up for a PHR when they schedule appointments online, to request medication refills and view a financial history online. The clinic will also encourage students who are studying abroad to complete an online PHR before leaving the country.

“Offering personal health records to its students reaffirms Indiana University’s commitment to innovation and the Health Center’s focus on improving care and reducing cost,” said NoMoreClipboard.com chief marketing officer Jeff Donnell. “With the administration firmly behind initiatives that support healthcare IT adoption, Indiana University is leading the pack in the college health space.”

Indiana University students at the Bloomington campus can create a free personal health record account by visiting the Health Center’s website (www.indiana.edu/~health/) and clicking on “myHEALTH” to visit the Health Center page on the OneStart portal.
