Carroll Hospital Center Adopts Amplifi to Improve Pharmacy Communications

Web-based pharmacy tool helps hospital publish formulary and medication safety info.

Bellevue, WA, July 28, 2009 — Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,300 hospitals in the United States, announced today that Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Maryland has implemented Amplifi to manage their formulary and communicate medication information throughout the hospital.

“Our pharmacy webpage on the hospital’s intranet site was basically a list of hyperlinks. The link to our formulary was just an alphabetical list of formulary drugs in a PDF file that our computer department updated twice a year,” said Lawrence Siegel, Director of Pharmacy Services at Carroll Hospital Center. “We were looking for an interactive, easy-to-update formulary list that tied drug information to the drug search. Amplifi filled this need.”

Amplifi is a flexible, robust formulary management and pharmacy communications application with integrated drug information. It provides Carroll Hospital Center with the most versatile, easy-to-use tool to manage, update, and communicate formularies in print, on the web, and on handhelds.

“As we got familiar with Amplifi, we realized it should be the opening page for our pharmacy website, not just another link in our existing list of pharmacy links. Amplifi’s ability to list headlines, announcements, and links to our hospital’s guidelines made it a natural as the front end for our pharmacy page,” said Siegel.
