Zynx Health Streamlines Clinical Decision Support Workflow

Los Angeles, August 16, 2011—Zynx Health, the market leader in providing evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support (CDS) solutions, announced the release of two software enhancements designed to streamline clinician workflow and improve productivity: Workflow Management, which simplifies CDS content development; and Export Validation, which provides a more efficient integration of content into the electronic health record system and expedites the delivery of evidence-based CDS to the point of care.

These latest Zynx Health software enhancements will enable hospitals and healthcare systems to smoothly integrate CDS into clinician workflow and health information technology, while meeting meaningful use standards for electronic health records (EHRs).

Workflow Management—Deployed within AuthorSpace®, Zynx Health’s web-based content management system, Workflow Management launches a built-in tracking mechanism that accelerates efficiency by allowing clients to schedule and track the development and completion of clinical content along service lines. This functionality eliminates the need for separate spreadsheet or database records and allows clients to instantly identify and remedy bottlenecks. Workflow Management’s consolidated notifications maximize clinician review time, while the tracking tool’s facile navigation allows project leads to pinpoint the need for additional clinician input.

Export Validation—Zynx Health’s Export Validation is another powerful AuthorSpace enhancement that allows Cerner CPOE users to simultaneously build, edit, and validate their ZynxOrder® order sets for export. Export Validation identifies common problems, including missing or inactive catalog terms and unsupported export fields. Consequently, order set items that will not integrate with the Cerner CPOE system are detected prior to export. In addition to diagnosing potential issues up front, Export Validation suggests corrective action in the user interface, creating an intuitive and streamlined integration experience.

“As hospitals strive to increase efficiency, Zynx Health is constantly working to improve CDS workflow,” says Bill O’Connor, MD, senior vice president of global product management and marketing at Zynx Health. “The Workflow Management and Export Validation enhancements will empower our clients with a speedier method for customizing content and a more efficient integration into the EHR, thus accelerating the pace of bringing evidence-based CDS to the bedside.”

Workflow Management and Export Validation are the latest releases in a series of recent Zynx Health software enhancements, including Outcomes Navigator and Key Clinical Process Icons. Outcomes Navigator allows providers across the continuum of care to identify those processes for each condition that can reduce financial risk (i.e., by preventing admissions, readmissions, ED visits, and hospital-acquired conditions, and by reducing length of stay and costs). Key Clinical Process Icons highlight the clinical processes within an order set or plan of care that are critical to improving cost and quality outcomes.
