St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Expands Use of LiveData Technology to Improve Patient Safety

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor is expanding its deployment of LiveData PeriOp Manager patient safety and operational intelligence solution to 10 new operating rooms. LiveData OR-Dashboard™ with Active Time Out® (ATO), and OR-Schedule Board™ will provide the foundation for workflow efficiency and patient safety in nine Outpatient Surgery Center operating rooms and a new Hybrid OR at the 537-bed teaching hospital. The award-winning hospital will also deploy LiveData PeriOp Manager Analytics™ to provide comprehensive performance reporting across all perioperative areas.

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, part of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System (SJMHS), is located on a 341-acre campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor has been named a Top 100 Hospital and, along with four other SJMHS hospitals, recently earned “A” scores from The Leapfrog Group for their ability to protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries, and infections.

The new Outpatient Surgery Center and hybrid operating rooms enable SJMHS medical teams to perform surgeries with advanced imaging and other technologies such as minimally invasive techniques so that patients can go home happier and healthier. With the new LiveData PeriOp Manager installations, all 28 St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor ORs will be equipped with LiveData technology.

“When a leading hospital like St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor expands its use of our technology, it is a gratifying affirmation that we are helping them meet their strategic organizational objectives,” said Jeff Robbins, CEO of LiveData. “St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor has built its reputation on operational excellence, and has an enviable patient safety record.”

LiveData PeriOp Manager synchronizes perioperative workflow throughout the entire perioperative suite to create an optimal care environment for staff and patients alike. Coordinating patient flow, patient care, and related resources from preoperative assessment to discharge in real-time, PeriOp Manager streamlines OR throughput and promotes full compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, and other critical patient safety mandates.

PeriOp Manager’s wall, workstation, and bedside computer displays, mobile notifications, and performance metrics fully-equip perioperative departments to achieve patient safety and operational efficiency objectives. Caregivers can effectively manage and assume accountability for their activities, and administrators are able to quickly gain insight into where and when workflow bottlenecks are likely to occur. The product suite, which can be deployed as individual modules or in combinations, includes:

  • PreOp Board: a single, dynamic, operational view of patient status and preoperative case workflow.
  • OR-Dashboard: an integrated display of patient data from hospital medical records and physiological devices with automated surgical workflow and patient safety information including Active Time Out, a real-time, interactive surgical safety checklist.
  • OR-Schedule Board: a real-time view of the day’s surgical cases, enabling staff to improve patient throughput.
  • PACU Board: a single, dynamic operational view of patient status and post-anesthesia case workflow.
  • Family Waiting Board: a display enabling families to track the progress of their loved ones as they move through the surgical process.
  • LiveData PeriOp Manager Analytics: comprehensive data analysis and reporting, using big data techniques to transform real-time operational data into actionable quality, compliance, and efficiency intelligence.
