Press Ganey Introduces Program to Help Provider Organizations Prepare for OAS CAHPS

Press Ganey has announced the launch of its Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (OAS CAHPS) Early Adopter Program. This new program provides outpatient and ambulatory surgery centers the opportunity to gain experience with OAS CAHPS measurement, identify improvement opportunities, and implement patient experience initiatives in preparation for the anticipated requirements.

Starting in 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plans to begin voluntary monthly data collection with its OAS CAHPS survey tool. The official OAS CAHPS survey, certified by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), includes 37 questions that assess patient experience measures for hospital-based outpatient surgery departments or free-standing ambulatory surgery centers. The Press Ganey Early Adopter Program survey includes the OAS CAHPS questions as well as proprietary Press Ganey questions to help providers better understand their patients’ perceptions of their care experiences.

“Press Ganey is committed to helping clients capture the voice of the patient across the continuum of care as a path to improvement and in preparation for future requirements.” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO, Press Ganey. “Our experience shows that organizations that participate in patient experience measurement programs before they are required tend to outperform those that don’t, and also sustain that advantage over time.”

Press Ganey partners with more than 22,000 healthcare organizations to continuously measure and improve performance and is the largest CAHPS administrator in the country with more than 8,000 participating organizations.
