Summer Reading

I review a number of books — my summer reading — in the Sept/Oct issue and invite readers to share their reading list. What’s been on your desk, Kindle, or bedside table this summer? I encourage readers to post their suggestions as comments to my Editor’s Notebook column. I’m especially but not exclusively interested in books about healthcare and medicine. As a separate project, I’d like to develop a resource list of books about patient safety for PSQH.com. Your suggestions may serve as the beginning of that list.

I read John Black's book The Toyota Way to Healthcare Excellence, published by Health Administration Press. Although the book is a bit disorganized in places, the material is excellent. It is an even more productive read if one has some knowledge of quality improvement beyond just a healthcare administrator's knowledge.
