CCHIT Announces New Certified Electronic Health Record Products

Chicago, Oct. 23, 2006 The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHITSM) announced today that 11 more products received CCHIT Ambulatory EHR 2006 certification status, bringing the number of certified products to 33.
A total of 17 applications for certification were received during the Aug. 1 to Aug. 14 application period. Of those, 6 withdrew their application, postponed inspection, or failed to satisfactorily demonstrate compliance with all of the CCHIT criteria.Ý
Ý
The CCHIT CertifiedSM mark the only recognized "seal of approval" for ambulatory EHR products provides the first consensus-based, consistent benchmark to help physicians reduce their risk when investing in this technology. The certification criteria have been developed to ensure that products provide a broad foundation of functionality, will evolve to deliver standards-based interoperability with other systems, and include security features to protect the privacy of personal health information. To be certified, a product must comply with 100 percent of the more than 200 CCHIT criteria.
