Joint Commission International Appoints Carlo Ramponi, MD, to Lead European Office

Oak Brook, IL, Oct. 25, 2006 Joint Commission International (JCI) today announced the appointment of Carlo Ramponi, MD, MBA, as managing director of its European office in Ferney-Voltaire, France, located outside of Geneva.

Dr. Ramponi has served as a JCI consultant and as project director of JCI consulting projects in Italy since 2000. He served for more than 15 years at the Bocconi University as a researcher and teacher on health care quality issues. He was previously chief medical officer in a private clinical laboratory in Milan and president of the managing committee of a public health care organization.Ý

Dr. Ramponi will represent JCI across Europe, forging collaborative relationships with ministries of health, professional societies and other key stakeholder groups to enhance the quality and safety of health care and improve health outcomes, while permitting the flow of patients and health care funds across borders. As managing director of the JCI European Office, he also will provide expert counsel on performance improvement, patient safety and JCI accreditation for a variety of health care organizations. JCI has ongoing projects with more than 80 countries around the world and provides services to numerous organizations in Europe.

Dr. Ramponi has held senior teaching positions at the Bocconi University School of Management, and on the Parma University faculty of medicine, the University of Milan faculty of medicine, and the Torino University faculty of medicine. He received his medical degree from Parma University, Italy, and an MBA from the University Luigi Bocconi, Milan, Italy.
