PDC Introduces Blood Band Plus Wristbands for Positive Patient Identification and Blood Matching

PDC blood bands reduce transfusion errors related to patient or blood misidentification.

San Fernando, CA, May 9, 2007 Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a leader and innovator of automated wristband identification, announces the release of Securline® Blood Band Plus Wristbands for patient identification and blood matching.
Blood samples all look the same. There is no way of identifying between type 0 and type B blood when it is in a blood bag or during a transfusion. This is why it is critical for hospitals and healthcare organizations to implement an effective labeling and identification system for patient blood samples. Precision Dynamics' Blood Band Wristbands minimize chances of incompatible transfusions due to wrong blood and/or wrong patient identification, thereby improving patient safety.
With Securline Blood Band Plus Wristbands, lab and transfusion technicians are able to match the right patient to the right blood using wristbands and adhesive labels printed with unique identification numbers. The new adhesive peel-off tail, which includes individual labels, allows transfusion and lab technicians to apply labels directly on specimen tubes for accurate ID of patient and blood.
Available in red, yellow, and green and intended for in-patient use, Blood Band Plus features include:
- NEW! Adhesive Peel-off Tail: tail has peel-off self-adhesive feature that applies directly to specimen tubes

- SecurSnap® Closure: plastic snaps, as opposed to metal snaps, provide greater patient safety, comfort and security

- Easy-to-Read Data Area: a large, white surface offers clear and easy readability which can help reduce medical errors

- Efficient Easy-Peel Labels: includes 23 easy-peel labels for quick ID and tracking of specimens
Blood Band Wristbands provide a direct link between blood samples, patient, and any cross-matched blood. For more information on Blood Band Plus or other patient ID solutions, visit www.pdcorp.com/healthcare.
