B. Braun announces Pinnacle™ TPN Management System/CPR+ Interface

Barcode-driven interface requires no IT implementation reduces errors.

BETHLEHEM, PA, March 10, 2008 B. Braun Medical Inc. (www.bbraunusa.com), a global leader in innovative healthcare products and services, today announced that its award-winning PINNACLE™ TPN Management System, a medical device that improves patient safety and compounding efficiency when pharmacies compound intravenous (IV) formulations, can be easily integrated with the home infusion therapy industry's leading information system, CPR+ v8.0. Created and distributed by Definitive Homecare Solutions (DHS), CPR+ is used by more than 800 home infusion providers nationwide.
The interface requires no information technology (IT) implementation and no need for manual input because the interface is barcode-driven. After the TPN calculations are performed by CPR+, a barcode is printed on the TPN Worksheet which can be scanned into the PINNACLE TPN Management System, making the procedure efficient and helping reduce transcription errors.
"The collaboration between B. Braun's PINNACLE TPN Management System and CPR+ provides a seamless integration," said Rob Albert, vice president of Pharmacy Marketing for B. Braun Medical Inc. "This alliance will allow customers to streamline their TPN process for improved safety and efficiency. Helping our customers improve safety continues to be a major focus at B. Braun."
"We're very pleased to be the exclusive software provider offering an interface to this innovative and time-saving device," agreed Jeff Johnston, D.H.S. Co-Owner. "We've talked to our customers who are using the PINNACLE / CPR+ interface and they love it."
The B. Braun PINNACLE TPN Management System received the 2007 Gold Medical Device Excellence Award for advancement in design.
