BETHESDA, MD, March 3, 2008 — GetWellNetwork, Inc., a leading provider of Interactive Patient Care (IPC) solutions, today announced that it is partnering with the DAISY Foundation to help hospitals recognize the exceptional work of nurses through the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Through the GetWellNetwork® system, patients and families at participating hospitals can provide direct feedback about the nursing staff and nominate deserving nurses to receive the prestigious award.

Currently awarded at more than 200 hospitals, the DAISY Award honors a nurse at each hospital each month for the compassionate care he/she provides and the profound difference he/she makes in the lives of patients and their families. Award recipients are selected based on feedback from hospital staff, as well as patients and their families. Since the program's inception, 2,000 nurses have been recognized with the award. In January 2008, the DAISY Foundation and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) formed a collaboration to expand the program to every hospital in the country that wishes to incorporate it into their nurse recognition and retention strategies. Operational responsibilities for the award program were assumed by the AONE Institute for Patient Care Research & Education.

GetWellNetwork empowers patients and families by placing them at the center of their own care experience. The system turns the television in the patient room into an interactive resource during a hospital stay. By using a wireless keyboard, touch screen or handheld device, patients can interact with the system to access valuable education, communication and entertainment tools directly at the bedside. As part of the DAISY Award program, the patient's television screen will display a message encouraging patients to provide comments about their nurses and take the opportunity to nominate them for the distinguished award.

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the Barnes family in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. Having been touched by the remarkable care, clinical skills and compassion demonstrated by nurses during Patrick's illness, the Barnes family made it their mission to recognize exceptional nurses around the country.
