CareFusion Introduces Ergonomic Surgical Clippers

CareFusion Corp., a leading, global medical technology company, has introduced the next generation of the company’s industry-leading line of surgical clippers. The new clippers, developed in conjunction with clinicians who use these types of devices every day, dramatically improve ergonomic feel and performance, encourage proper hand position and application, and can be used in wet or dry conditions.

Designed for real-world performance and incorporating input from OR nurses, labor and delivery nurses and open heart nurses and technicians, the CareFusion clippers are 100 percent waterproof with a fully submersible handle1 — making them easy to clean — and feature a prominent battery life and charging indicators. Most importantly, the refined, balanced design naturally promotes proper blade angles and the correct use of the clippers, which limits skin irritation for the patient that increase the potential risk for skin infections, as compared to traditional razors.

“We used nurses and technicians as active participants in the design and evaluation of the new CareFusion surgical clippers,” said Jan Creidenberg, vice president of sales and marketing for Infection Prevention at CareFusion. “The new clippers are designed to provide best-in-class performance and ease-of-use for clinicians, and the improvements we’ve made are the direct result of input we received from the men and women who use these types of tools every day.”

All CareFusion surgical clippers have three different, interchangeable single-use blades to help prevent cross-contamination and provide the right blade for various types of procedures—a general use blade for most clinical hair removal; the specially designed Neuro blade for thick hair on the scalp; and the SensiClip® blade, which moves the blade away from the patient’s skin to avoid compromising sensitive or loose skin.
